"Will you be my queen?"

My little family!
 Fernie has discovered the tunnel!

Lately we have had some pretty interesting conversations with Jack.  One night while putting him to bed he said something about being a princess…I told him that a girl is princess and a boy is a prince.  He asked what a king was and I told him a king is a boy and a girl is a queen…
Me:  Would you like to be a king?
J:  Yip…Mommy, will you be my queen?
Me: I would love to.
J:  And we can live in a sandcastle.
We visited the zoo this week and he didn't like the loud noise of the gibbons.
Can't go wrong with the slide at the zoo.

In preparation for his birthday we’ve been asking him what he wants for a gift...
Me:  What would you like for your birthday?
J: A red car.
Me: Like one you can drive down the ramp?
J:  No, a big, big biiiigggg car I can drive really fast!!
On bath night Zack had meeting so I had to bathe both kids.  Fenie has such sensitive skin so she needs to use special soap SO no more sibling baths.  I don't think she minded!
Pretty much every morning Jack watches Zack leave for work...
They blow kisses back and forth...I just had to show this picture because you can see Jack "catching" Zack's kiss!!!
This weekend we participated in the Autumnfest parade.  It's hard to tell but Fernie is having fun!!!
Jack held his sign the ENTIRE parade route.
We visited a new park this weekend.  Jack LOVED it.

 Even Fernie liked the swing!

 It's that time of year!
I just had to show these next two picture because if you remember Fernie received two of this outfit.  One was sized 3 months (Thanks Rose!)  AND...
One was sized 12 months (Thanks Rosie!). What a difference!!!

Jack's new favorite thing at Papa and Nana's house is riding in the sled!!

Jack’s newest question is “Where’d you get that?”
This morning we gave him a quarter for Sunday school offering…
J:  This quarter is for kids who don’t have quarters, right mommy?
Me:  Yes, some people don’t have the things we have.
J:  Where’d you get this coin from Mommy?
Me:  We have to hard work for our money.  Daddy works hard so we can get money.
J:  What do you do with money?
Me:  We pay our bills, buy groceries, give money to church...
J:  And buy birthday presents for Jack?
Me:  Yes but that’s something very special...We have to be careful how we spend our money.
J:  We have to keep our money at the house and hold on to it very tight.
(well sort of what I was getting at...)

Belated update

Jack loves a good apple snack.  He asks to "eat it like daddy"...meaning don't slice it up!
Fernie is busy as EVER and getting into EVERYtHING!
 Admiring from afar!
When Fernie is uncertain of a situation or is tired she sucks her thumb.
We asked where Jack would like to go next and started he flapping his arms...chickens here we come!
 Who needs steps...Oy!
Our happy little man!  I can't believe he will be 3 next month.
Just a quick puppet show before daddy goes to work.
I did NOT stage this...Fernie LOVES to climb into the beanbag and chill out!
 This girl is ALL smiles!
We were at a picnic and thought a picture would be nice...well at least they are both looking at the camera!!!
 Cheese!
I found this train set at a garage sale.  Jack thinks it is so cool!
Last weekend we attended a parade..this is Jack's candy stash!!!
Jack wanted his own turkey leg at the street fair this weekend so I gave him mine...
Jack usually runs at 100mph...unless he is watching Curious George (his FAVORITE show!)
This picture just makes me smile, I love it.
Fernie had her 9-month appointment this past week.  Healthy as can be.  She even showed off a bit and waved at the doctor!
If you sit on the floor at our house you WILL be crawled on!
 "Wow, you are tall Daddy"
Fernie's hair is still out of control..getting better though...
 And Fernie's latest thing...I'm.not.ready.for.this!!
Jack is still the best helper around!  When they were all done Jack thanked Zack for helping him.
Planning for Jack's 3rd birthday party is underway.  We asked him what kind of party he wanted and he told us a "football, basketball, soccer ball and bowling ball party with chocolate ice cream!!!"

Pocket protector

Our little Jack is one happy guy.  Don't get me wrong we have our moments but for the most part he is HAPPY!!  (yes, we know this toy is too small for him but he LOVES it!!!)
I was in the back room and noticed some blue color crayon on the tile.  I called Jack back immediately and the conversation went like this:
Me:  Jack did you color on the tile?
Jack:  NO!
Me:  Well then who did this (pointing to the blue lines)?
Jack:  ME!! (said with great pride)
Could you be mad at this little face???
 This is one happy Papa!
These days you can find Fernie anywhere!!!
Her new favorite thing...I don't think I'm ready for this!!!
While Fernie slept one afternoon Jack and I played with bubbles...

Papa took Jack on an outing one morning this week.  Jack could not get in the car fast enough!

 3 amigos!
Well we broke out the "food net".  First we gave Fernie apples...she did OK.  Yesterday we gave her peaches...she LOVED them!!
I'm sure she was trying to give me a kiss...
Two of Jack's favorite things...books and staying in his PJs!
This is an older picture but I forgot to post it last week.
Fernie loves the swing...it's so fun to see her enjoy it because Jack never did...he still really doesn't.
(Yes, she has tights on...it was a cool morning and she has NO pants that fit.  Don't worry we bought her some pants that afternoon.  Figures it's been in the 90s since!)
Who's under that hat???  She likes her thumb!
Jack was invited to a birthday party this weekend.  He definitely had a height advantage!
After the pinata broke he was quick to get the candy that fell far away from the tree...
Once he had collected all that candy he moved over to the BIG pile!
 Fernie cuddled with Daddy.
Jack even put candy in his pocket...he was so proud!
He protected his "candy" pocket for the rest of the night.  Even when running he made sure his candy didn't fall out.
Here he is waiting for cake and ice cream (WAY past bedtime)...still covering his pocket!
