Getting so BIG!

Since Jack is starting preschool in the fall we figured we should buy him a big boy water bottle and put the sippy cups away.  Fernie had to have her own big girl water bottle too...she kept drinking out of Jack's!  She carries her water bottle everywhere.
Fernie is really getting into this reading thing.  She loves to open the flaps, slide the doors open and turn the pages (even if it's not time...oh well!).
This guy is getting a bit to brave for my liking.
The kids LOVE to watch people through the windows.  When one of us is in the backyard the kids love to wave at the window.  Fernie is squealing and laughing as Zack passes by with the mower.

What a big brother...I think...
I had to pick something up a the Visitors Bureau and we found this...
One morning Jack was "playing" on the couch and I told him he would hurt his head (like the little monkeys) next thing I know he has a bike helmet on to "protect his head"!
A few cute little things from our little philosopher:
"How does God make it rain....does he just squeeze the rain out of the clouds??"

We were dog-sitting and Lucy started barking when the doorbell rang and Jack said "Lucy, barking is disrespectful".

As I was on the phone Jack brought me the baby monitor and said "Fernie is up"...next thing I know Fernie is standing NEXT to me!! I asked Jack how she got out of her crib and he responded "I held her dress VERY carefully and lowered her down like a crane!"
This is what happens when Fernie does NOT take an afternoon nap!
Fernie LOVES pickles.  A few days ago Zack gave her a whole pickle and sure enough she ate the WHOLE thing.
One day this week we had PJ day.  When we play in the basement Fernie's first mission is to find and wear Jack's old shoes.  Guess she found the boots today!
 Good reading time with Daddy.
Jack took a big step at the zoo this weekend, he FED the goats.  This is a HUGE deal for him.  He was so proud of himself.  I think he has made a new buddy!
Our baby is also not a baby anymore...Fernie is understanding more and more each day.  She is talking LOTS...mama, dada, nana, pop pop (papa), Luc (Lucy), Ja (Jack), off, uhh-huh (accent on the huh), hi, bye, all gone, done, wolf (random), and cheese (when the camera is out!).

As I've always said, Fernie is a VERY happy girl.  If she gets mad or hurt it does not last for long but it's pretty serious for the short period of time!  She has a very contagious smile!
Jack and Fernie are growing up just in time...in December we will have another little Pelham in the family!!  December 25th to be exact - Christmas baby!!
When we told the kids (well Jack listened and Fernie rolled around on the floor) I showed them their ultrasound pictures and the new ultrasound picture.  Jack was pretty excited and had lots of questions:

"Will the baby eat human food or dog food?"

"Where will the baby land when it pops out?"

I told Jack my tummy would get bigger and bigger and bigger...his response was:
"but mommy it's already big!"
Gee, thanks!

Summer Fun!

I just had to share this blurry picture.  Fernie loves to put things in the trash AND loves to wear my scarf.  What a goof!
 Playing catch with Daddy.
Fernie loves sitting in Jack's chair.  She doesn't sit for long but she DOES likes to take a break now and then...

Papa helped us with some tree trimming.  Jack helped too!
Then Papa and Jack picked the rhubarb.
Fernie sat and watched.  This was taken right after she ate a bunch of rocks.  She is sooo quick!
Fernie really enjoys going on walks and holding hands!
We took a spontaneous weekend trip (well spontaneous as Zack and I can be!!!).  We thought it would be fun to take the kids swimming.  And swimming we did!!
Jack chilling during the car ride.
Fernie laughed, sang and talked.  For the most part they were good travelers.  Just bring snacks and movies and they are HAPPY!!!
Fernie LOVED the food on vacation.  All the rules out the window, no bib, NO sippy cup, and her own bowl of Mac and Cheese!

Jack would have stayed in the pool the ENTIRE trip.  One night he and Zack swam for THREE hours.
The hotel had a 150 foot water slide.  Jack went all by himself and LOVED it!
 LOVE that smile!
The next morning the kids were so excited they got up at 6AM!!  After we got ready, ate breakfast and watched some TV it was 8AM!!  Not much opens before 10, except Scheels!  And they have a Ferris Wheel!!
Next we headed to Yunker Farms, the kids had fun.  We did some milking...
 tried on hard hats...
 brushed some teeth...
 played in the toddler room...
 played with levers...
played the drums...
and rode the train!!

Right now, Fernie's favorite outdoor toy is the shopping cart!

Jack's getting to be quite the bike-rider.
So I took the kids shopping for father's day, we got to that point of the shopping trip where only Icees could save the day!!  (we will work on Fernie's lady-like manners!)

 Happy Father's day to Zack!
He loves these kids with all his heart and that makes my heart VERY happy.
He had lots of help opening his gifts.  I am so proud of Jack for not spilling the beans on what we bought him for Father's day!
 Getting ready for summer!!!

Out of the mouth of babes...

We've had some very rainy weather...I think our average rainfall for this time of year is 3-4 inches.  I believe so far we have received 7+ inches of rain!  Lots of basement and garage time (yes I let the kids play in the garage - ride bikes and play ball).  We are very happy to be outside EVERY minute we get.
Maybe Jack has been inside a bit too long?!
 Multi-tasking!
Having a phone conversation with Daddy.
One of my favorite pictures of Fernie.  She is SO happy...

Unless you make her do something she doesn't want to do...
She gets over it quickly!

Fernie is wanting so badly to ride this bike.  Until she can reach the pedals we will push her around!
A few cute conversations with Jack:
Me:  Look that lady is out on a nice morning run.
J:  Mommy she's running kind of slow, she's jogging.

It's good Jack is going to preschool in the fall. He makes the mistake of talking to people his age like he is talking to Fernie.  I overheard him saying this to a friend just a few months younger than him:
"This is a stuffed animal, can you say stuffed animal??"

One afternoon he was playing at my parent's house and there was a fly in the house and he said:
"Nana, do you have a killer?"  He meant a fly swatter!!

Jack had been asking to do a project but I told him he we needed to clean the playroom first. He responded:
"I HAVE to glue something Mommy, God asked me to do it."

Our little Lucy hurt her back so one night we were praying for her and after we prayed our conversation went like this:
J:  What would happen if Lucy would touch Jesus' coat?
Me:  Good question, what do you think Jesus would do?
J:  He would say (said in a whisper) "who touched my coat?"
He does listen to my stories!!!

Fernie has figured out how to make this little bike go!  She only wishes she could go faster.  Today she took it to the top of the driveway (it's slanted) and rode down with her feet up.  I about had a heart attack!!  She laughed ALL the way down!

 I love going on walks!
PJ day but the rain took a break so we headed outside!  And Yes she is wearing Jack's old PJs!!
My budding artists.
 Daddy now has two helpers.
 FINALLY time for popsicles.
 HAPPY girl!  She loves food.
I needed to plant some grass seed and had a perfect helper.  He is so eager to help us do things around the house.  I LOVE it!
We took the kids to the library kick-off day.  Highlight of the day:  visiting the fire truck!
When Jack gives the ball a good kick or knocks all the bowling pins down he will say "YESSS" and raise his hands!!
Just a little help from Daddy...

 Eyes closed and all!!!
Next we'll work in keeping the eyes open ;)
